Getting Prepared...5 weeks to go

Surgery is scheduled November 9th. wohooo.

Okay so time to get serious on getting prepared. Girls love to shop. But not for this stuff. So the most important thing post op is healing and ingesting. EATING!!!! Okay, here is the scoop this will be very difficult in the lines that I am a aquatarium. Finding pureed food, and making pureed food is going to be very difficult. Today I spent $60, on canned food. I got some carrot & peas, green beans, mixed berries...and -------------------------> breakfast!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now comes the issue of how to get this in my wired shut mouth. I originally was going to purchase a product called zip-and-squeeze, but they appear to have gone out of business. This would have been easier and I would have gotten more for my buck.

So now I am debating on buying this odd device used for dysphagia patients. See pic. The problem is if I have to eat at least 6 times a day (small meals, roughly 2-3 ozs at a time). I am not going to be able to clean this, and be prepared. Plus the ting cost $90.

I can always go with the option of using a luer tip syringe and a small tubing. I just don't think I will successfully get the food in. And that to will be difficult to clean.

I shall keep looking. But the decision has to be made soon, if I need to have something shipped.

  1. I'll grabe you a bunch of 60cc syringes (also make great water guns in the hot tub) and a couple of mic-key extension sets. They're for g-tube feeds, but very easy to clean and should work for anything in the beginning without too many lumps. I'll ask my friend, the speech therapist, too. :) Hang in there, toots.
